The MUTEK festival announces new partnership, reveals highlights of 8th edition

MUTEK, an international festival dedicated to new currents in electronic music and to the various mutations of digital creation, announces its 8th edition, to take place in Montreal from May 30th to June 3rd inclusively. This year, the MUTEK team is particularly pleased to announce that FLASHER.COM, a festival partner for the past two years, has raised their association to MUTEK’s official PARTNER PRESENTER. With this new and exciting partnership in place, MUTEK now delivers the highlights of its 2007 program. Specially priced festival passports will go on sale this coming Saturday, March 31st.

With more than 80 different artists scheduled to participate, MUTEK reveals some of the headliners expected to delight, stimulate, and challenge festival-goers during the 2007 edition: Matias Aguayo & Roccness, Gui Boratto, Candie Hank, Chic Miniature, Cobblestone Jazz, Digitaline, Gangpol & Mit, Heartthrob, Kode 9, Michael Mayer, MyMy, Pantha du Prince, Rhythm Sound, Shackleton, Someone Else, Jesse Somfay, the Wighnomy Brothers, and many more. MUTEK 2007’s entire program will be revealed at a press conference to be held on April 23rd.

Over the past few years, MUTEK has expanded its role as an important promoter of electronic music and digital creativity outside Quebec, often taking its showcases directly to the international stage. Coming strong off its most recent success in Washington DC, where the organization hosted the “Montreal Underground” showcase on February 24th to a capacity crowd at the Smithsonian (more than 200 people were refused at the door!), MUTEK already has plans for more special events in the near future: March 30th in Rome, at the prestigious Parco della Musica; April 5th and 6th in Lille, as part of the Festival of Electronic Landscapes; April 7th in Paris, at Point ?ph?m?re.

MUTEK would like to thank its principal partners for this 8th edition: Flasher.com, the Conseil des arts et des letters du Quebec, the Minist?re des Affaires municipales et des R?gions du Qu?bec, Tourism Montreal, Musicaction, the Montreal Arts Council, Canada Council for the Arts, Heritage Canada, the City of Montreal, the Consulat g?n?ral de France au Qu?bec, the British Council, Ex-Centris, and the H?tel Godin.
