El mítico trío De la Soul se está preparando para retomar actividades. Uno de los estandartes de la ‘Golden Age’ en Nueva York y gran referente del Hip Hop a nivel mundial, desvelan un poco de información en una entrevista para Rolling Stone sobre su regreso al negocio.
Presentando desde una serie de singles semanales que serán lanzados a través de Internet hasta una gira que compartirán con LL Cool J, Ice Cube o Public Enemy (Kings of the Mic).
En un tiempo recorrido de 9 años, el primer single que firmaran se titulará ‘Get Away (feat. the spirit of Wu-Tang)’, en el cual samplearán obviamente a Wu-Tang Clan. Sobre el single, han dicho: “I think putting out those singles would be more impressionable than dropping an album at this present day in music,” explained the group’s DJ, Maseo. However, the group will eventually release the long-gestating album, You’re Welcome. “It’s about trying to just creatively have a bunch of songs in the stable. You have to consider a lot from the administrative standpoint in the release of a project. I see the song that we’re putting out being the perfect B-side – with a video this time”. Y ellos piensan que es la major manera de regresar: “I think it’s a great record to reintroduce ourselves with… It’s pretty much reflecting on the state of hip-hop at this moment.
