Exclusive Interview: GUIDO SCHNEIDER (English)MedellinStyle:
Ok, Guido is a pleasure to have you in our dancefloors again , tell us what have u been doing the last year, since your last visit to Medellin in March 2009.

Guido:
I did a lot of music! Some production with Jens Bond for my own label motivbank and for pascal feos label “levelnonzero” with a really nice remix from tiefschwarz. I did also a killer record with pascal feos together. And many many more! and traveling around the world as usual!

MedellinStyle:
What escene or city have you found more inspiring for your sounds ?

Guido:
I get my inspirations from my music colleges. I get it from people living in the cities.

Exclusive Interview: GUIDO SCHNEIDER (English)MedellinStyle:
There is a confusion between people, about your labels and the labels where you do releases, can you explain us a little how have been your “label timelines” ? as there is no info about this in discogs. Where did you first started to release, and how have been this evolution.

Guido:
that’s funny. Timelines never heard in my live before. I ran a label called “neue welten” a long time ago. but my actually label is called “motivbank”. For sure there is no problem for me to release tracks on other labels.
My first release I did was 1994. I was 16 years old. But this record I try to keep secret!

MedellinStyle:
Do you classify your music? so you choose where to release it ? If yes how is the process?

Guido:
I release my music only on labels they really like it. That’s very important for me to know that the persons behind the label like my stuff a lot. So I’m talking about friends.

What does it feel, being one of the pioneers of todays tech-house super mainstream sound? Did u imagine that this could happend 15 years after your firsts funky exports to the world?

Guido:
that was a hard way. Lot’s of pain, unsatisfication. my career started very late. I almost stopped making music. But right now I’m happy that I went this long way of pain. For success it needs power, tallent and relations!

MedellinStyle:
What do you think about the degeneration of todays house, its original analog sound, its jazzy detroit and chicago high tech structures and the comercialism of some artists and labels… !

Guido:
todays house is mostly boring. too much bongos and congas. music is going up and down, left and right and repeats themeselve. you have to find your own style. otherwise you will never have success.

MedellinStyle:
what is the most interesting part of encountering an artist identity and transform your own sound with out betray the essence?

Guido:
that happens with almost 90 % of all artist. only 10% are real artists. they are independent, unique and the real masters. but they died already.
look for example ricardos biggest album. “dexter” was an adaption of joy division. real artist died. we are entertainer. nothing more. we have to accept it.

MedellinStyle:
How have been the situation in Berlin, where now is overpopulated of djs

Guido:
it’s still berlin. I’m wondering every who lives in berlin. I think is going up straight. every week!!!!

MedellinStyle:
Some artists that you havent work with yet and you really want to work? or well remix?

Guido:
Ricardo asked me to do somthing. but we will see. But right now I go a totally different way. I started working with Mark Scheibe, a new comer in the classic scene. We try to put classic and electronic together. we already did shows and it works. that’s a nice ensemble of opera singers, violin players, trumpet players e.t.c. and me. It’s a real orchestra! the next gig we have is love parade in two weeks.

MedellinStyle:
We have heard amazing things about your Live, what is biggest difference to your dj show? cant wait!

Guido:
It’s me. Nobody else. That’s the different. It’s my understanding of music, my passion my obsession. my crazy mind!!!!!

MedellinStyle:
What are your favorite things about Colombia?

Guido:
The most feelings while i was playing in medellin. if i could choose between fabric london, dc10 ibiza and medellin. I would go for you guys without any doubt.
